At The Playlist DJs, we’re always on the hunt for artists who carry the true spirit of house music – those who live and breathe it, who tinker with it, shape it, and spin it into something fresh. So when we came across Yazid Le Voyageur, it was an instant connection. With his unmistakable nod to the French Touch scene and a passion rooted in the golden age of 90s electronic music, Yazid’s sound is both nostalgic and excitingly new.

We sat down with the Mexican-born producer to talk about his musical journey, his new EP Stardust, and where his love for disco and French house is taking him next.

Tell us more about you and your musical journey so far?
I’ve been in love with house music since I can remember! I’m a Mexican 90s kid, and being exposed to the genre early on through the radio left a mark that has never faded.

The French touch movement in the late 90s was the turning point in my life when I knew I wanted to learn how to DJ and produce music.

I started making my own tracks around 2013. It began as a hobby – uploading edits and remixes of classics to YouTube and SoundCloud just for fun. The response I got was surprisingly good, which encouraged me to take the next step and create full EPs instead of standalone uploads.

Being mostly an independent artist can be tough, but I was never in it for the money. I simply love the process. Recently, I released my Stardust EP, which is the result of over 10 years of learning how to make house music. I’m really proud of it – it’s my favourite release to date.

What are your favourite genres?
French house, disco, and trance.

Any top tracks or artists?
Absolutely. I’d say Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, DJ Tonka, Le Knight Club, Cassius, The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Sota Fujimori, and Porter Robinson. All legends in their own right.

Tell us more about the new album?
With Stardust, I set out to make something inspired by the French house classics but not just another replica. I didn’t want to follow the usual formulas too closely. So, I added some tweaks and glitches, layering in my own vibe and flavour. It’s a tribute, but it’s also my take on where the genre can go next.

Plans for the future?
I’d love to challenge myself and release music under a few of the labels I’ve admired over the years. I also plan to record and upload DJ sets to my YouTube channel, and hopefully start gigging more to show people what I can do behind the decks.

Anything else we should know?
Disco house is coming back in a big way. More and more DJs are producing and pushing the sound, and I haven’t seen this level of attention on the genre in over a decade. You can definitely expect new singles from me soon, released through labels from across the globe.

Where can we find your new album?
You can find Stardust now on Bandcamp if you’d like to support me directly, and it’s also available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and more.
